The site plan for this simple, elegant home demanded an excercise in restraint. Paramount was nestling the home into the rolling topography and working around established groves of hickory and oak, all while respecting established drainage patterns and the greater watershed. Several 3-D models were completed to finally arrive at the perfect finished floor elevation to allow the best siting for views as well as to minimize retaining wall heights. The arrival motorcourt was planned with a shoot and chip surface and a cobblestone curb, with a majority of the plantings being groundcover and boxwood. The rear courtyard, initially planned as a pool terrace, is bounded by box hedge and a hornbeam bosque and also contains plantings of hydrangea and lavender; while a side lawn was reserved for more active play. Wantland Ink represented the owner before the Forest Hills Board of Zoning Appeals, which passed the project upon initial hearing. Construction to commence in Fall 2012.
